About Franklin County Criminal History

Criminal-record information in Franklin County is divided among offices in Frankfort and statewide Kentucky systems. The sheriff, Circuit Court Clerk, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Department of Corrections, and Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry each maintain different parts of the record. This private site organizes the official portals and contact routes so readers can identify the right source.

Why We Built This Site

Kentucky records are not kept in one all-purpose database. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office maintains its own incident and arrest reports, the Regional Jail handles booking and custody information, and the Franklin Circuit Court Clerk keeps case files and dispositions. Kentucky State Police operates the central criminal-history repository and state registry, while the Kentucky Department of Corrections publishes KOOL for state custody and supervision. We built this guide to make those boundaries, request steps, official contacts, and fees easier to follow.

What You Will Find Here

  • Agency contacts: where to reach Franklin County offices and the Kentucky systems that maintain official records
  • Record guides: how to locate and understand a Franklin County court case, arrest record, or registry result
  • Expungement information: how Kentucky's vacate-and-expunge process is organized and where eligible petitions are filed
  • Official-check instructions: how Kentucky State Police name-based checks and authorized IdentoGO fingerprint checks differ

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately operated reference site, not part of Franklin County, the City of Frankfort, the Kentucky Court of Justice, or any law-enforcement agency. Those boundaries mean we cannot:

  • Provide legal advice or apply a charge, warrant, or expungement rule to a particular situation
  • Issue certified court documents, criminal histories, or other official copies
  • Submit an open-records request, expungement petition, or other filing for a reader
  • Retrieve a criminal record or perform an official background check
  • Promise that an agency's address, hours, fee, or procedure has not changed

An official record must come from the office that maintains it, such as the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Franklin Circuit Court Clerk, or Kentucky State Police. This site can explain the route, but it cannot supply the document.

Search Partners

Third-party providers operate search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its service, prices, and results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee for this site, which supports free public access to the guides. We do not set partner charges or determine the contents of their results.
